After living for 25 years in India on 28th of august 2009 I made to US. I had a very different perception about US. the things i saw on TV and in hollywood movies was the only information which i had about this fabulous country, but once my plane landed in chicago and i got the first glimpse of this dream country, i realized that we as Indians live in our own world and don't have much idea about the western world and their cultur. We think that our culture is the best and american dont have any historical background as such. After living for so many days amoungs american communities I realized that there is more than what the indians know about american.
My aim of writing this article is to bring forth the truth about US and how it will impact out country as a whole.
so many of you might be thinking that the next thing i am going to write now is to describe about us cities, but this arn't what my article is about, My article is about the residents of US, the permanant and non permanant, the government and the ministers and ofcourse the development.
Indian history dates back to thousands of years when the great epics The Ramayana and The Mahabharat were written, Lord Rama defeated ravan proving that the good always defeats the evel. Even today we in india celebrate Deepawali with lot of enthusiasm, come the month of october and we find series of festival comming one after another with people blocking the roads for their enjoyment. Serioulsy how much relevanec is there for such merrymaking when it takes india a day back in the eyes of the world. I dont criticise the celebrations, infact i also love to participate in such fun but look at the millions of rupees wasted in crackers, jewelleries and celebrations, come the dawn and the roads are filled with debris left behind the previous night. the whole city smells like gun power and smog is inevitable making the life of the old vulnarable.
Here in US 4th of July is celebrated much the same way with one exception, safety is given prime priority followed by enjoyment for the masses rather than individuals. Fireworks take place but at designated places and citizens are not allowed to blow crackers where ever they want, merrymaking is for everyone and is not restricted to any caste communiy or religion.
Indians belive in Ramraj and still vote for the ravan raj specially in states like U.P, Bihar and Maharastra. Take for example the chief minister of UP mayawati who, since her coronation has always talked about harizan and their development, her army of ministers surround her and celebrate her birthday in ambedkar park lavishly spending money demanded by Police commissions of each city. These policemen take oaths giving their lives for the welfare of the citizens but i bet you just give call to 100 number and see how much trouble you may be in. insted of being helped by them they will grasp you in such a web that it will be impossible for any one to come out without paying for the call.
The US police is made to serve the nation. call 911 and you know you are safe. the cops are prompt, helpful and alert to the surroundings. The never drink on job and smoking is considered a crime. they are trained properly and by merely looking at them you can feel that you got no harm.
Now a days Shiv sena wants every taxi driver to speak marathi, tomorrow panjab will want every one to speak punjabi and kolkatta will want bengali, this will go on till every state will have its own language. With such anomolies how can India shine as the BJP says and how can Congress bring a transformation, it is next to impossible for the country to rule. we as indian still dream of ruling the world although we know that we cannot be together in our own country with selfish politicians who just think about their own short term benefit and ruin the country as a whole.
I know it is hard to digest such facts by these politicians as i am blatant enough to castigate their unrealistic behaviors, but for the general public like us it is a fact which cannot be hidden from any one yet we cannot do anything as we are afraid to take any action as we are divided. We are happy to fight with one another on the basis of caste creed and religion but not at all ready to curb these notorious politicians.
Here in US the story is completely different. Although problems do exist between the democrats and the republicans but a reconciliation is always possible when it comes to decision and the nation comes first followed by their individual decision. Take for example the health bill which has become the issue of primal concern for everyone in US and time by itself was the judge for its validity.
Can India think of such country oriented decision. I dont think my country is ready for this at this time.
